This science is about science- related jobs and the requirements for this assessment was to go out into the community and search for a science related job, then we had to interview them about their job and the importance, and finally we had to make a poster about all of the information and the importance of the IB learner profile. We were given 2 months to finish the entire project, but it took me 3 weeks. The first week I found the person I was going to interview and I planned the interview questions and the content of the poster. The next week, I interviewed my person and I started my poster until the third week where I printed it and edited everything and made sure that I had all of the requirements. we had to have a draft copy of the interview questions, we had to put the importance of the IB learner profile, references of all the information on the poster, pictures of my person at work....it was a single project, so I had to do all of the work on my own. The input that others had on my work was that I couldn't have completed it without the help of Dr. Ameen who I interviewed and gave me very useful information. This piece of work is very significant to me because I got to meet different people and realize the importance of science outside of school. It is definitely something that I am proud of because the final poster looked good and I got full marks 6/6 in criterion b which is communication n in science. Another reason that I am proud of this work is because I never got a full mark in this criterion this year so I was really happy. It is something really developmental in my science mark because it means that I got the highest level. I have chosen this piece of work for my portfolio because it was the most fun project I have done this year, I got a really high mark, and I got to meet new people and understand that the things we learn in school are actually important in our everyday life and in the future. Therefore, this work has improved me as a learner in the MYP program because I learnt how to organize my work, how to plan in advance, about the real life and its connection with what we learn, how to talk to new people, how to interview adults and plan meetings. It helped me organize my time and work efficiently which I now use in every subject. It demonstrated that I am capable of doing science, so now I am more confident in my work. With my new knowledge and skill that I got from this project, I am going to use it in every subject, in and out of school.
